据英国总工会(TUC)最近的调查显示,由于经济减速,超过300万的上班族担心自己明年将会失业。
Sales of takeaway food have rocketed as more office workers stay late in a bid to avoid the threat of redundancy.
为了避免被裁,更多的上班族选择加班加点工作,由此导致了外卖快餐业的销售额突飞猛进。
Sales statistics from online takeaway portal Just-Eat.co.uk show that late-night work has become more commonplace, with staff at thousands of offices across the UK buying takeaway meals to eat while they work.
The firm said post-5pm ordering from offices has risen by a massive 236% in the past six months, compared to the six-month period before that, with many employees eating their dinner at their desks in a bid to complete their workload and safeguard their jobs.
The company's poll of 1,304 office workers found four in 10 had worked late in the last month on more than five occasions, with more than a third worried about their job security in the current economic climate.
David Buttress, chief executive of Just-Eat.co.uk, said: "More people are ordering from their desk than we've ever experienced. The ease of ordering a takeaway while having as little time away from working as possible has meant that our sales to offices after 5pm have rocketed."
Ash Ali, Marketing Manager of Just-Eat.co.uk said,"In a time when the media report doom and gloom across many different sectors, we are able to report a significant rise in orders. Talks with many of our partnered restaurants convey a similar picture, where they have stated that they have in fact seen a rise in takeaway requests in the last 6 months, with less sit-in customers and much less drinks spend.
